My friend recommended me ts movie... Since she's recommended it (yesterday) she's watched it 3 times I think. And honestly I think of her differently now.

This movie is definitely something. In the beginning, it was cool. I liked the setting a lot and I just like Italy in general so I thought that this movie was gonna be super romantic and stuff! And then it kinda all went downhill.

I didn't know that you could make an unromantic romance movie until I laid eyes on this movie. And now I sure freaking know.

I feel like a lot of the reason why is the age gap. I could not BELIEVE that the love interest was the guy that it was until it came to me like a brick. Because Timothy Chalamet does a good job of acting like a teenager and the other guy does a good job of NOT.

So like when the characters are getting freaky it's weird to me that one of them is acting like a child and one of them is acting like an adult. And ig it would be different if both were children or both were adults but one is ACTUALLY a child, and the other one is ACTUALLY an adult.

And some people are defending this, saying that they both consented and Oliver did stop himself at first and I don't disagree with that at ALL. There is no DOUBT in my mind that both were cautious and consenting. But I guess it boils down to morals. Should a 17 year old be with a 24 year old? I don't think so. And I think that sours the movie for me. And yeah, it's Italy, and the age of consent is like 14 or something bizarre, but for me being an American, I just don't like that.

It's like Lake Mungo, when Alice made the sex tape with the old ass man at the age of 17. I didn't like that either, and neither did the family, but the age of consent is 17 in Australia so it got passed off. I feel like it's similar because 1) people are doing freaky things at age 17, and 2) people are defending it. Except in Lake Mungo, the people defending it are fictitious lawyers, and the people defending this one are the people watching it. So I guess, did we like that sex tape scene in Lake Mungo? I know I didn't, cuz Alice was 17. But she was still consenting. And I guess that's the same deal in this movie for me.

And so I guess I didn't like this movie cuz I thought that the age gap was awful, and also because it was lowkey just freaky all around. Like, I feel like I would care more about the ending if the 2 characters actually proved that they loved each other and not just that they wanted to have sex.

So yeah. It's still a 7/10 though because it was still a very good movie and I liked the characters (except one) and I really, REALLY liked the setting. Also I feel like it was actually a good movie, for all it's worth. Also I'm a big yaoi fan and while this is kind of adding on to the false claims of yaoi being sinful and lustful I guess I can't flame it bc I do like gooning to ts.

So yeah. Homosexual Italian Freakfest. It was pretty okay.

Also I hated Oliver. He was just freaky and annoying. Like why was he even there bro like just leave???

Also I ALMOST gave a fuck about the ending but I just did not care for Oliver or their relationship at all so that lowkey became difficult.

Idk he was just kinda a loser teenager and I like characters like that.
