Thriller/Dark Comedy; R

2021

I actually watched this movie a long time ago, maybe when I was 10 or so, and all I have to say is that if you are in fact 10 or so years of age and you want to watch this movie, do NOT. You can wait.

This movie is a lot. A lot of characters and different personalities, a lot of plot, a lot of cinematography (which is honestly really underrated in my opinion), and a LOT of action. And also a lot of gore.

There is actually quite a bit of gore in this movie, but it's not really just blood and guts, to me at least. I feel like it's more... fantastical? It reminds me of Repo! The Genetic Opera in a sense. The not-great CGI and the more fantasy-esque elements. And while I don't really know exactly what word to use to describe that sensation, I kind of like it!

I feel like it's also because of the whole superhero/vigilante type-deal too. I don't know exactly. But in conclusion, I feel like the gore is done creatively, if that makes any sense. So that makes it better for me. Also I'm not all too affected by gore, so that might also help.

Anyway, I thought that the cinematography was actually shockingly good! How it was split into chapters and how some scenes were filmed it somehow reminded me a little like Wes Anderson films. I guess that also added to the fantastical element, too.

And then all the characters are very unique and honestly I don't think there's a wrong pick from liking any of them. I would judge you more for liking some from others, but whatever. All the characters were very good.

So yeah. Good characters, pretty fantastical. I enjoyed this movie a lot. Shockingly good! Now I just have to watch the original...

Long live Weasel.

Peacemaker's deal at the end didn't really make any sense to me. Because in the end they ended up not even spilling the files so like why kill people over it? And like why don't they just like... talk about it?

Also idk if this is just me but I did not really care for Flag, whoever that was. He was never really introduced or expanded on. Basically a filler character.

Also don't kill me but while I thought Margot Robbie ate in her role, Harley was a little eh. I know what they were trying to get out but it ended up tuff in some scenes where I like her a lot, but in others she was lowkey just annoying. Don't kill me.

But that one scene where Flag and Peacemaker were fighting shot from Peacemaker's helmet was actually so tuff. That's why I said that the cinematography was good in the first place. I thought that scene was actually SO good.

Also there were some KILLER one liners. Starro's last words? Tuff. Ratcatcher 1's only words? Also freaking tuff. Harley's last words to whoever that guy was? ALSO tuff but less so. Not a movie I would expect for things like that but hey tuff is tuff ig.

Am I glad I watched it?
Yes

Would I watch it again?
Probably

Would I recommend it to a friend?
Yes

Favorite Character

King Shark!

Ik that's his superhero name but his real name is some bullshit so imma just put that.

Let's be very honest here -- was he not the most OP character in the entire movie? He like couldn't get got by the starfish, couldn't get got by bullets... I mean, seriously. And he's a shark??? I mean...

Second is probably tied for like Polka Dot guy and Bloodwhoever. The main guy. Then third is probably Harley and honestly I liked Waller a lot. And John. Actually John might be more tied for second.

Whatever. All the characters were great. I just liked this guy the most cuz like... come on. He's a shark. Like, I want to be a shark.
