Woah. Like, woah.

I think this is the first time I've felt like a movie actually deserves a 10/10 Jupiters. And I feel bad for saying that, being a pretty bad Oscar-baited moneygrab, but I mean...

I don't even think it's deflated expectations that made it good. I just think that it was... a good movie.

I mean, Christopher Nolan, right? And like Matt Damon, Zendaya, and whoever else they put together. The casting was okay, but full of big names. And I think they all lived up to their potential. (I'm not too sure what Tom Holland was doing there, and I think they would've lived if they didn't cast a famous person as long as he looked even a little bit like either of the character's parents, but he was good nonetheless)

But, going into the movie, all the bad stuff said about it were one of two things: dialogue, and how long the movie was. For the length of the movie, I simply think that yes, it is a long movie. But it is one of those movies that you are so enfactuated by the screen that you don't even notice how long it's been. So many different things happen in this movie that you don't even realize that it's been 3 hours when it ends. I think that honestly it was the perfect length. More might've been tedious, and less would leave the audience wanting more.

For the dialogue, I sort of agree with the people that say that it wasn't accurate. I suppose. But I feel like there must have been a reason, since the rest of the script was so good. And I think that the main reason as to why they made the dialogue as it turned out was because if it was truly like the older times, nobody would know what anyone was saying.

I know people try and grit their way through old-English-time films and pretend to understand the plot while watching it, but having people mumble to each other is bad enough, but having people mumble incoherent nonsense with words that haven't been used in over a century is just not a fun experience. I know people try and tell us that it is, but I've read an Arthur Conan Doyle book for school once and I, from experience, do say that it was in fact not a fun experience, and that I basically had to make up bullshit for all of my work. Sorry Ms. Krumrey.

And every other aspect was good, too. The acting, the special effects, the sound.

Actually, a note on those last two. Pretend that the "fantasy" genre of this movie doesn't exist. It's just an action. There is no fantasy involved. You will probably enjoy it better that way. And for the sound, I have to say that this movie is insanely loud. Like, I think it's the first movie in which I plugged my ears for a scene. There was an especially loud part but I don't want to spoil it so I won't say. It'll be in the spoilers.

Also, if you can, watch this movie at an IMAX theater. I don't know if it will still be in theaters by the time anyone at all starts actually reading my reviews, but that's how I watched it, and it was absolutely terrific.

So yeah. Honestly, great movie. I think the people who dislike it or diss this movie are honestly forcing it. Or they're mad that it'll steal all the Oscars. The ladder is understandable.

If this gets an Oscar for casting I'm going to lose it.

The loudest scene was DEFINITELY when the cyclops got poked in the eye. I mean, seriously. Loud ahh.

Also, casting was mid. Elliott Page was a strange pull but I think he made it work, Tom Holland looks nothing like Anne Hathaway or Matt Damon at all, and Mia Goth was, like, okay. But besides that it wasn't too bad. And if there was any movie for it, I think this was the correct movie to have a big, dumb, money-eating cast.

Duh.

He was literally so tuff and even though he technically like messed a lot up, he was also like conscious which helped a lot.

Also I LOVED his loyalty to Penelope. There was a line in Watership Down I remember... "...he sleeps sound beside Calypso and when he wakes thinks only of Penelope." Awwwwww.

But yeah I suppose that's it. Seriously incredible guy. He was so tuff.
