Romance; PG-13

1989

Okay so I honestly think that this movie wholeheartedly and completely captures the essence of terrible 80's witch movies. And I'm not going to lie, but this was a TERRIBLE movie.

Like, none of the characters were really likeable, or memorable, for that matter. The plot was lacking, especially near the end, which also didn't make any sense either (the end, I mean). But, for all it's worth, I guess it was entertaining.

I think that this movie is very similar to Beastmaster, in a way. I mean, it's a bad movie, but I guess I did have fun watching it. Same with Sleepaway Camp, I guess. But one stellar difference is just how not special anything was.

This was probably the most stereotypical a movie can get. I mean, the witch part was like not even a super big part, in a way. It was just kind of mid and nothing stood out.

What I will say, though, is that Louise is actually a very likeable main character. I feel like a lot of main characters get this thing I like to call "I Suck as a Main Character" Syndrome. If you didn't already guess what that was, it's basically when the main character either has one big flaw that just makes them hella unlikeable, or when they don't really stick out. Louise was actually interesting, though, and I actually did like her a lot as a character. Props for that!

Yeah but anyway, not a great movie. Kinda boring, hella stereotypical. Just meh.

I feel like it's one of those movies that imma like more the more time I spend away from it, ykwim? Like Sleepaway Camp or Battle Royale. But, y'know. Idk.

But one thing that TANKS its ratings is that the actress for Louise was 16 while filming and the actor for Brad was TWENTY FREAKING SIX. and they, like, made out. a LOT. HORIZONTALLY.

Ig it was a while ago but like in the late 80's???? Are we fr? Like I had to triple check but math adds up and like... come on....

Ngl, I did not get the ending at all.

Like, was the curse lifted? Did Brad really like her or not? Like I feel like I didn't really understand ts part. Also why did Richie just go back to normal? Idk I'm kinda lost on allat.

Also, like, are we just going to drop the most embarrassing moment of Louise's life while her letter to Brad is announced to the whole class but then not talk about it for the rest of the movie? I'm geniunely debating if that whole part of the movie was just a dream or not just because it just didn't fit in at all and had absolutely zero relevence to the rest of ts movie.

But yeah thats it ig.

Am I glad I watched it?
Kinda?

Would I watch it again?
Probably not

Would I recommend it to a friend?
No

Serena!

Idk... she just felt so wise. Also, usually characters like this become the bad guys, which I was totally expecting, but that never happened! Yay! Also I love ts actress so it might be a little biased.

Louise was a close second, though, just because I was shocked at how good of a main character she was.

But yeah. Nuttin much else to say just the characters were mid. The end ig.
