I feel like how good this movie is, along with all the other sequels, is really up for debate. Some people say Saw VI is good, some people say Saw II sucks, and some people say that Saw III was the best one, who of which need to be publicly executed. I feel like this movie is the same, with a fanbase involving of a quarter of Saw fans, a hatebase involving another quarter, and the other half being people who geniunely cannot get themselves to care. I, personally, am in the first quarter; the fanbase.
This movie is very fresh... Remember my review for the second movie? It feels mostly the same. Lots of new characters, lots of new traps, and lots of a whole bunch of other stuff. This is the Saw sequel I have rewatched the most (not including Saw 3D because it was the only one available on my free streaming service... Not proud of that...) because all the characters are just really, really good, and the traps all feel new. It's honestly a great movie!
However, it still has its downsides. The infamous colors of the first three movies, like the greens and blues and reds, are much more muted and this movie has a new color instead: "grey-ish blue". Boooooring.
The plotline is much less original and takes mostly from the third movie, where one person goes through traps trying to save others. I understand why it was done, and it was for a good reason, but I'm not a big fan of that style.
BUT! Still a great movie. Good characters, original and well thought-out traps with people who geniunely deserve to be in their traps (for the most part), and a twist that, sure, wasn't as powerful as the first or second movies, but that's an UBERhigh bar so you can't really be picky.
And you also get a lot more into Jigsaw's life and stuff with the introduction of his wife. Forgot she was in this at all but whatever. I liked that part a lot, too.
Yeah. Great movie. Not as good as the first ones but, y'know. Better than the third. Low bar, I know, but still. Like a body of drinking water in the desert.

The reason for why they gave Rigg the power over everyone was mostly because he needed to learn how to care for other people and not just himself and his partners. If I'm remembering right. And I think I appreciate that a lot.
I was talking to my friend and she said that the ice cube trap was really cool??? I think that's not necessarily a hot take but definitely a niche one. It's cool, I guess. But I mean... Meh.
Also RIP Eric Matthews he was just tryna look out for Daniel he REALLY did not need allat...
