Thriller/Horror; R

2004

I was hyperfixated on this movie a little while ago, but sadly it's going away :( but! The good news about that is that I can give this a review that is partially unbiased based on how my lesser-fixated brain sees it.

For all it's worth, this movie is actually incredibly good. And that's not because I'm a sadist or a horror movie freak, but because it's ACTUALLY good.

When people talk about this movie, all they talk about is the traps that the characters goes through, and how gnarly they all are, which, while understandable, is not the only aspect in this movie. The characters are actually well-written, as is the dialogue, and the characters (mostly) make smart decisions, and if anything, this is more of a thriller-mystery than a horror at all. For a movie where people talk about the gore, there's barely any at all, and it's really entertaining and just overall GOOD.

And don't even get me started on the lighting... dude. There's NO reason for the lighting to be that good. Like, the use of green and blue throughout the movie is so beautiful, and some of the shots are terrific, and the setting is good, and the mystery aspect of the movie is actually GOOD, and so is the storytelling and... dude now that I'm thinking about it I'm probably glazing this movie a lot but it's so good like honestly?

Also the ending??? Dude. I'm not even gonna talk about it because of how good it is.

And the villian is good and scary and lowkey not annoying like some of the other villians in other movies are (cough cough Longlegs) and, I guess it's revealed in the next movie but whatever cuz you should watch ts too, but he has good motive for what he's doing and stuff!

I can't really name a bad aspect of this movie. I mean, a part that really stuck out just for being shit. Leigh Whannell was obviously Australian but I can easily look past that since he's like the best character in the whole series (well 2nd best but whatever).

Yeah dude this movie was so good... Bro ik I already talked about the characters but I love how we see the characters progressing through the movie -- as the movie goes on, you see the roles reverse in Adam and Lawrence and how that effects them and like bro that one part where their heads are like pressed together when Lawrence was boutta leave BRO...

I'll leave the rest for the spoilers but yeah this movie was honestly awesome and NOT torture porn and soooo good RAH I love this movie its soooooo good :P

"Are we gonna be okay?" "I wouldn't lie to you" like dude actually what the fuck I'm sliming Leigh Whannell the FUCK out.

Also the end is so good cuz by the time it's really revealed, you're 100% sure that you already found the guy. But then... UH OH!!! he was there the whole time!!!! UGH its so good...

Idek what to say I lowkey yapped so much in the actual review that I don't even know what to say in this. Like idek.

Favorite Character

Adam!

This guy was my favorite character up until Saw IV when you get to see PETER STRAHM!!! But seriously he's a terrific character like...

He's such an angry hotheaded chud and I lowkey love hotheaded characters AND chuds and I also like that he's a photographer cuz like there aren't enough photographer characters and I honestly think that photography is super duper cool and should be represented in media more.

And also like he's not a total dumbass yknow like he has his moments but for a horror movie character he's surprisingly smart like ngl.

Also hear me out (I HAD TO SAY IT but that is NOT the reason he's my favorite. I swear).

Yeah idk he's a big fat loser but he's prolly my favorite loser cuz all the other losers are corny and annoying but he's super cool yfm?
