Sci-fi; PG-13

2026

Going into this movie, I only heard good things. But they were all from sci-fi geeks or filmbro-type people. But this movie did NOT disappoint and was actually REALLY good.

The guy who wrote the original book also wrote The Martian, which I watched a loooong time ago and I thought was really good (even though my mom said the book was better but whatever. Still good. highly recommend), and I totally see connections between the two.

This is one of those long movies that doesn't feel long, or at least you're glad that it takes a long time to finish. I really like how they made parts of Rocky's clips a puppet instead of CGI. Made me really happy. The cinematography was great, Ryan Gosling was GREAT, the score was AWESOME. I didn't really like the girl all that much but what can you do ig.

The ONLY thing that was mid was the ending. It wasn't like a Sleepaway Camp type deal where it just sucked, but it was just too... happy. It felt kind of like a Disney movie, to be honest. I was expecting some grit and instead it all felt tied off at the end.

That's the other thing. My mom proposed this theory where the end of something determines how well it stays in your mind. For example, she says, Gone With the Wind stays with her because everything at the end isn't wrapped up, so you're always thinking about it.

This movie had the opposite effect. While watching it, it was great, but it's having a really hard time sticking in my brain.

Whatever. Still a great movie. Would definitely watch again, would 100% recommend, and I am definitely glad I watched it.

Rocky!

Rocky was HILARIOUS. and also lowkey cute! And smart, and brave, and a whole buncha other things.

I liked Rocky bc he was lowkey unique AND was puppeteered... not just CGI'd... lowkey helped a lot.

So I don't wanna spoil to much so I'll leave some stuff out but like Rocky was my GOAT!!! He can fist my bump ANY time.

Ew okay nevermind that might've been too niche if you haven't seen it. Whatever. He's so tuff :P
